This trio of early twentysomethings made some local waves in the late-2000s as Scary Monsters before re-emerging as Leisure. "Our previous bands were guitar bands; this is more interested in pushing boundaries," says Rouhana. "We just absorb as much music as we can. We all absorb art and outside elements to influence our music. We all read a lot, Sam has a degree in film, Chris knows classical music. We bring into the foray maybe things people might not think are important."

Early in 2010 Leisure attended a show at Great Scott to see San Francisco's Girls. Outside the Allston venue, Hamad handed Girls' JR White a CD-R of first single "It's Alright (On the Suez Canal)," and weeks later, Leisure were asked to join their tour, getting as far west as Detroit. "We were supposed to go to Milwaukee, but we ran out of money," says Rouhana.

That adventure ended in the Midwest. Leisure's latest venture promises to take them a bit further.
