"That's the curse of being a band that people get into at one point," Ackermann says. "You know, the first time you hear something and love it, you play it all the time and go 'I can't wait for the next one,' and it never lives up to that!"
But the real goal has always been musical excitement, which may or may not come in an ear-damaging package. "Being loud for loud's sake is pointless. I mean, we met this soundguy once who said 'The loudest act I've ever done sound for was Barry Manilow,' which is really funny. Like he would apparently reach something like 140 dBs, which is nuts. Barry Manilow!" ^
