On THURSDAY (the 19th), it's last call for Springfield, MA rhymer TABLEEK and PVD duo DIRTYDURDIE at Fête (congrats on the Best Hip-Hop Venue win in our readers' poll last week); dial 401.383.1112. On FRIDAY (it's 4.20, people!), BOO CITY, TEN-FOOT POLECATS, and SIT DOWN BABY perform free-of-charge at Nick-a-Nee's (401.861.7290), and the DJ RUKIZ B-Day Bash features very iconic rapper CHUBB ROCK (imagine Chubbs putting in work at the NY System afterwards). The Met delivers another stacked weekend with THE FELICE BROTHERS leading off on Friday with solid local openers in LAST GOOD TOOTH and DIAMOND DOVES; then head back on SATURDAY (the 21st) for the big LUCERO show with special guest J. RODDY WALSTON & THE BUSINESS; call 401.729.1005 for info on both shows. Saturday is Record Store Day! Head up to Newbury Comics in Norwood, MA, for Warren's SIX STAR GENERAL performing at 2 pm, with TOMMY STINSON (the Replacements, Guns 'N Roses) singing and signing at 3. Saturday night highlights include THE WIPPETS at the Happy Clam in Swansea, MA (508.646.3849), and ukulele master JAKE SHIMABUKURO playing the Narrows Center for the Arts (508.324.1926). On SUNDAY (the 22nd), AS220 delivers a loud one with MASTHEAD, GERTRUDE ATHERTON, and BEST PRACTICES ($5 cover, 401.831.9327). TORN SHORTS is a band worth looking up — catch 'em in action on MONDAY (the 23rd) at the Apartment with MOGA (401.228.7222); the show will also be broadcast live on 990wbob.com. And of course there's the big DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE show (with Magik*Magik Orchestra, and Low opening!) Monday at the Vets; tix are available at the PPAC box office or call 401.421.2787. On TUESDAY (the 24th), anyone heading up to the Paradise for another go-round with WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS? Where the hell were you when they killed at the Met last week? And give your ears a good thrashing on WEDNESDAY (the 25th) at AS220 with WEEDEATER, COUGH, ASG, and KINTAAN; all-ages and just $5 at the door.
