If they are on their own, they won't be for long, since their music's dark majesty is making converts worldwide. But Åhman is hesitant to take credit for the band's accomplishments: to hear him tell it, the band's muse dictates and they are mere followers, adherents to a blueprint that is already set but revealed to them in pieces: "The music takes control of us, it suggests the aesthetic, everything. Although, lyrically, I have to portray my inner life; I have no other choice. With this metal music, the underlying emotive and spiritual values that power it are so important to me. I don't know, I have no other choice than to write about it, actually. Otherwise, I dunno. . . . "

Åhman pauses in thought, before darkly proclaiming, "I would kill myself."
