There's nothing sexier than a harp, right? Grossi brought one home with him from a music store in Denver one day on a whim. "I was writing a lot at the time, just kind of experimenting, and I started putting that into the compositions I was doing. I thought it added another element of classical combined with a lot of the '80s-vibe stuff. I think I realized that some of my favorite songs I was making were the ones that used the harp instead of straight synth work. Writing the album, I focused more on the classical orchestral vibe."
That vibe has made for particularly thoughtful and quiet audiences, like what you'd find at a Blake show, for example, who he's also supported. "Generally, people are pretty reserved and just attentive, stuck in the moment," he says. Like they're in church.
