Shirley Manson dishes on Garbage's return

As for herself, Manson says the reputation she has garnered over the years as a fiery redhead who, yes, did actually take a shit in her ex-boyfriend's cornflakes way back when, is a misconstruing of being a powerful female. "When you're honest, and blunt, I think people back off a little from that," Manson says. "I think people rush to categorize that as aggression and/or naughty, or rebellious. I think unfortunately that's the culture women find themselves in if there's even a remote streak of rebellion. Then you're painted as some sort of hellion. . . . That said, I am a bit of a hellion. I'm not a shrinking violet." ^
