The two best sets overall were ones that could have been predicted weeks ago: Beach House, who were barely visible behind a blanket of white and pink lights, and Japandroids, with their high-energy punk jams. These two proved why their Bloom and Celebration Rock records, respectively, already seem destined for many year-end best-of lists.
Like all festivals of its size, Primavera has a few drawbacks: it is indeed a corporate-sponsored event, and advertisements cover the walls. But it's a rare festival where that can all easily be overlooked. The overwhelming scenery and flawless curation at Primavera tended to dispel those doubts.
