"I was at Club Babyhead the night Nirvana played [Sept 1991], and during the show Mr. Cobain had technical problems. He must have thought his distortion pedal had something to do with it because he smashed it on the stage and threw it into the crowd. It landed between the feet of the guy in front of me, so I grabbed it.

"The hinge on the pedal is broken, but otherwise works," said Toste.

Lams and Toste plan to hit the East Coast early next year following the album's release. "The first set of shows went better than expected," Toste humbly declared. "We hope this is part of a trend."

Mikey Lams is feeling it thus far, too. "I've been playing with Jeff for less than a year, and it already feels like second nature," he told me.

"When you play with someone it either works or it doesn't, and our initial live shows reinforced the fact that it definitely is working."
