    For Chicago hook-heavy crew Urge Overkill, who come to T.T. the Bear's on July 9, years spent assuming the posture of rock gods were scant preparation for the real thing.

    Sometimes a writer winces at the thought of having to ask the obvious but necessary question. So I'm grateful to Teddy Thompson for answering before I can even ask.
  • The Wandas find growth in their pop evolution
    Not only does their razor-sharp pop consciousness and reverence for rock and roll classics distance them from the "hard to play/harder to listen to" prog and/or funk trappings of Berklee, site of the bands' 2002 genesis; it also makes them one of the cooler bands in town who could probably appeal to most of their fans' parents.
