Say what you will, it wasn't boring, and it was all informed by high artistry. But my favorite piece might have been her encore, the title track from the new CD (which she recorded as a farewell to her 20s as well as a travelogue). Here, except for one swell of full chords, she was ruminative, Satie-like in her spareness and gently rocking left-hand rhythms. Her music was relentlessly happy and showy all night, but this sustained bit of wistfulness was a gratifying signoff.
