With the exception of the Empire's ever-popular Clash of the Titans, getting good crowds for Tuesday-night events has been pretty hard in this town.
However, if you're looking for original music of a Tuesday, insert Port City Music Hall's Two Series here. Two local artists, two-dollar cover, two-dollar drafts from 8 to 11 pm. Two dollars! Check your couch, your car, or even your bike bag to scrounge up the cash. Port City's making it not just easy to go out this winter, but nearly inexcusable not to.
They have an ongoing series of local artists, with truly fulfilling combos week after week, offering a good evening that is also a testament to our ever-strong music scene.
For those who have yet to make it out, here's the deal. The series starts on time and at a decent hour for a weeknight. Doors are at 8 pm and the past two weeks the music has started before or around 9 pm. On February 6, Dilly Dilly and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper even inserted a 20-minute intermission for mingling.
There has been a consistently large audience and if you've been doing a lot of hibernating this winter it's the perfect place to run into people you haven't seen in a while and hang back at the bar — or go to the front of the stage and revel in the room's phenomenal acoustics.
