According to Coward, city officials have considered having a dispensary on the far west side of the city, on the Scarborough border, but to us a dispensary right near the Maine Mall seems like a better bet. The mall has plenty of access by public transport (unlike a store out in an undeveloped area) and is able to handle large amount of traffic and parking. The empty storefront in the Hannaford plaza — you know, the one that turns into a Halloween store every October — would be accessible by public and private transportation. The space is big enough to handle a large operation with high traffic and has access from both major highways. NPG also included in its application interest in a spot just down the road from the mall, at 261 Gorham Road, across from Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse.
