'Sorry' was the wrong word

By SHAY STEWART-BOULEY  |  September 16, 2010

What do the angry Mainers think the Press Herald should have done? Cover the news a day or two later (which means it wouldn’t be news anymore)? Should Muslims worldwide change the dates of Ramadan so that it never ends on September 11 again?

Connor might not think he’s a bigot, but his actions suggest he is. At best, he’s been a milquetoast on this issue. The right thing was to cover the news, not to cater to ignorance by telling Maine’s Muslims that they need to go stand in the background when they are innocent of wrongdoing.
