What, they were out of patchwork madras pants, purple and green argyle golf shirts, and embroidered whale belts? Next time, Corey, stop trying to steer business to your spouse and let someone who has a modicum of taste, a clue about golf, and an appreciation for the importance of the competition outfit your crew, not some color-blind Valley Girl Stella McCartney wannabe.

GNOMES AND CIVIL LIBERTIES

Now more than ever we need the dedicated folks of the Vo Dilun ACLU to keep an eye on things. Yes, we need all the help we can get in this age of Corporations United, whoops, we mean "Citizens" United.

Real united citizens will be gathering at Central Congregational Church, Fellowship Hall, 296 Angell Street, Providence on Sunday, October 17 at 4 pm for a little party to benefit the RI ACLU.

The truly unique and wonderful Gnomes will provide the music, there will be lots of fun people there and, hey, how many opportunities do you get to dance to the Bill of Rights? For more information, to purchase tickets, etc., go to riaclu.org or call 401.831.7171.

Send kettle corn and Pulitzer-grade tips to p&j@phx.com.
