RIP, ALLIE BRIGGS

In the Biggest Little, where coffee is king, we all know that the ultimate compliment to coffee is the doughnut. We're not certain if there are definitive stats on doughnut shop density by state, but we are certain Vo Dilun is in the top five, if not at the top of the heap. We know we could look for doughnut stats online but, if we're going to waste our time on the Internet, it will not be pouring over doughnut statistics but rather photos of a scantily clad Robert Goulet.

Anyhow, the news of the passing of "Allie" Briggs, the founder of Allie's Doughnuts, truly resonates at Casa Diablo. That the governor didn't act immediately to lower flags to half staff is truly a source of "confusement" (to quote the late Professor Longhair) to P+J. Allies ruled here, in the kingdom of the doughnut, and we salute the founder and bid him sad adieu. For many years he brought a lot of enjoyment to a lot of Vo Dilunduhs. If the General Assembly, in its infinite wisdom (and there's a phrase you thought you'd never hear), ever decides to name a State Doughnut, it's Allie's, hands down.
