A breed apart?

Frankly, I think the pit bulls still have it easier, though. "Man's best friend" still tends to get the benefit of the doubt, and love for dogs goes across all kinds of class lines, race lines, and other lines. Probably a lot fewer pit bulls get avoided on the street after a bad story about one than do people of color when one of their own commits a newsworthy violent crime.

Still, I feel bad for those pit bulls in the news recently, at least one of whom I suspect might not have been as bad as portrayed. I feel ya, brothers and sisters, even if we aren't the same species.

Because we're kind of in the same boat.
