DESCRIPTION The most depraved proposal of all — not to mention a gross misappropriation of its namesake suffragist — this pledge obligates signees to exclusively appoint judges and officials who oppose abortion, and who would financially choke thousands of hospitals and institutions (including Planned Parenthood) that perform the operation. Mitt Romney stirred controversy by refusing to sign the pledge, a move that earned him stripes with moderates and other Republicans who aren't insane.
MESSIAH The Susan B. Anthony List, founded in 1992, is a foundation rooted in the most moronic of all oxymorons: "pro-life feminism." It is the brain fart of MARJORIE DANNENFELSER, wife of New Jersey GOP heavy hitter Martin Dannenfelser, and JANE ABRAHAM, wife of nuclear power strategist and former US secretary of energy (under George W. Bush) Spencer Abraham.
