But they do have a job. Tonight, it's to crash Santorum's party, which they're doing by filling the windows with accusatory signs, and creeping around every corner. The candidate walks through, but is then rushed into a back room so that all the windows can be covered in campaign banners before he tells everyone how "America as we know it will be gone" if the president wins re-election. Occupiers had already spoiled his event at a diner on the east side of Manchester days earlier. The campaign staff wasn't about to let it happen again — especially after word got around that Occupiers had just forced Gingrich to cancel an event by bombarding his Manchester headquarters.
Santorum is rushed into the parking lot, where a mad horde of Paul people and Occupiers form a scrum to get at him. As the candidate exits the bar, a chorus chants "Frothy bigot!" Candidate Supreme reaches in to shake Santorum's hand, but is pushed away by campaign staffers. It's the most aggressive brush of the week, as two Occupiers are shoved to the ground. For the first time since the debate in Concord, the Paul crew and their Occupy nemeses agree on something to chant in unison: "Shame!" ^
