This Friday, May 18, the Sidebar will present the great Mike Renzi, the Providence-born pianist who is just about the best anywhere; he's worked with Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and a slew of other big singers. Mike will be playing with 20-year-old Nicolas King, one of the bright new lights on the cabaret circuit. If you love the Great American songbook, this is the place for you.

And on Saturday at 7, it's the annual Bob Dylan Revival Night birthday bash at Patrick's Pub on Smith Street in Providence. The event features video presentations, live music, and an opportunity for fans to dedicate songs. It's All Things Bob — and it's a unique experience.

Though he spent a stint as executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation under Governor Lincoln "Missing Linc" Almond, Marcel Valois — the newly named head ramrod of the beleaguered EDC — is hardly a household name in The Biggest Little.
