Conservatives to watch out for

Last summer, lefty comedian Michael Ian Black and conservative pundit Meghan McCain took a cross-country road trip together so they could write a book about it. America, You Sexy Bitch reveals that their opposing political views don't prevent them from liking each other or having common ground. Group hug!

McCain is pretty hip for a conservative. Not only has she scandalized Twitter followers by wearing a low-cut tank top while reading a biography of Andy Warhol, she has been a passionate supporter of same-sex marriage — but the feather in her cap just might be that she's good enough friends with a founding member of The State that he didn't kick her in the face at any point during their month-long RV tour. On the other hand, she's a pro-life supporter of the war in Iraq.

And she's not the only one. Cool(-ish) conservatives have been proliferating lately. Here's a spotter's guide to the most visible ones.

TUCKER CARLSON The only other men who can rock a bowtie like this conservative libertarian Fox News host are whimsical adjunct history professors.

NICK GILLESPIE Never on television without his sleek leather motorcycle jacket, the mop-topped editor of libertarian monthly Reason resembles both Hamburg-era Paul McCartney and Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh.

KENNEDY So much for Alternative Nation — this bespectacled, Clinton-era MTV VJ has become a right-leaning libertarian pundit.

GREG GUTFELD The libertarian Fox News host, who graduated from UC Berkely with an English degree, outraged his colleagues on the far right when he made GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus a regular commentator.

S.E. CUPP For proof that the left doesn't have a monopoly on the sexy-librarian aesthetic, look no further than this New York Daily News columnist and author of a book about the left's assault on Christianity.
