Donuts from the sky

By PHILIP EIL  |  December 19, 2012

"Would you like a donut sir?" Folan yells from the window.

Big Mike pauses, then shouts, "Fuck it, I need three of them bitches!" He tosses a few bills into the bucket and it returns quickly containing three bags.

"Yo, that shit's the bomb," Big Mike says between bites. His vest is dusted with confectioner's sugar. He beckons two of his friends over enthusiastically. "That's a bomb-assed donut."

A skeptical friend says, "I'm not gonna die after I eat this, right? It came out of a window." It's good, he concedes after taking a bite.

Though Delegard's residency ends soon, the permanent residents at 115 Empire vow to keep Windonuts going intermittently. A Twitter account broadcasting store hours and flavors will be debuting shortly, they say. Or, if curious locals aren't plugged in, they can simply start pacing Empire Street at night, waiting for the glimmer of the lowering bucket.
