TIGER’S MELTDOWN
We don’t know if the reason Tiger Woods’s life is imploding in his face is due to “a sense of entitlement” (as some of our friends have suggested) — that, because of his astonishing talent, intelligence, and ability, he believes he is untouchable.
We don’t know why he got married when he obviously wanted to continue playing hide the salami with the wide-ranging cast available to him. If he were single, this wouldn’t be much of a story. If he hadn’t created and burnished his “All-American image” (and there’s big, big money involved in that), it wouldn’t be much of story either.
But when the shit did hit the fan and Tiger pulled out of that driveway, he should have under-stood that everything — ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! — will eventually come out. After one accepts that fact, the next thing you do is exactly what David Letterman did. Acknowledge everything, early and often, and joke about it (as best you can). And that’s why Dave is where Dave is and Tiger is where Tiger is.
