This Boston-based human-rights-focused group has worked in Haiti for two decades; their "partners on the ground in Haiti are in a key position to rebuild in the wake of these disasters."

Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership
As Portland Phoenix Web editor Jeff Inglis pointed out in this blog post, this Maine-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit is dedicated to helping Cap-Haitien, Portland's sister city located on the north coast of Haiti.

Medical Aid to Haiti, Inc.

Oxfam America Emergency Relief Fund
The Boston-based international relief and development organization Oxfam America (who claim 30 years of experience working in Haiti) currently has "staff of about 200 people on the ground in Haiti and a team of 15 highly-experienced emergency specialists." Partners in Health
This Boston-based nonprofit has worked in Haiti for 23 years; in response to the crisis, they've set up a field hospital. Read the Globe's coverage here.

Partners in Development
Based in Ipswich, this nonprofit "strives to help the extreme poor attain independence and whole life improvement." They have a medical clinic in Port-au-Prince and are planning to send an emergency medical-relief team there. You can make donations on their Web site; PID is also hosting a few fundraising events, at the Wicked Big Cafe (19 Essex St, Haverhill) from January 15 to 23, and at all Common Man restaurants in NH on January 17 (more info here).

Regis College Haiti Project
The Haiti Project's mission is to "improve the quality of nursing and nursing education in Haiti." Rather than immediate response, they focus on the long-term goals of addressing the country's medical care and infrastructure: "We can’t delay training the trainers." Donate on their website, or contact at 781.768.7221 or advancement@regiscollege.edu.
