The first two F.E.A.R. games were intriguing but uneven sci-fi shooters, and if the lazy title is any indication, F.3.A.R. (March 22; PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) will continue the tradition. This time around, there'll be cooperative play to go along with the usual slow-motion bullet time, heavily armed mechs, and jump scares. Developer Day 1 Studios has even enlisted legendary horror filmmaker John Carpenter to help make sense of their increasingly convoluted story line. Here's hoping the third time is the charm for a series that has never quite made good on its promise. If not, at least it makes way for the inevitable F.E.4.R — which I'm sure we'll be discussing in the 2013 preview.
