But the appeal of Shameless is elusive. As a voyeuristic look at a community of dysfunctional "quirky" characters, it doesn't offer very interesting quirks. And as the title implies, everyone knows what's up with everyone else anyway, so there are no big revelations to be had. It could be a show about a family pulling together, but they seem to spend their happiest onscreen moments alone or in small groups. Maybe they're all better off without each other.
