All right, Punky Brewster, listen up. I’m not foolin’ around: this week’s puzzle is tough. In this sudoku, some squares have a number with a + or a – symbol in front of them. These numbers represent the differential between the digit in that square and the digit immediately above, below, left, or right of it. So if a square has a +2 in it, for example, and the digit that goes into that square is a 5, that means one of the immediately neighboring squares will contain a 7. If a square has a -3 in it, and the digit that goes into that square is a 9, one of the immediately neighboring squares will have a 6 in it. When you’re done, as in a standard sudoku, each row, column, and 3-x-3 box will contain the numbers 1–9 exactly one time. Using this knowledge and deductive reasoning, can you complete the puzzle? My punk kid did it, and he flunked out of community college in six weeks. So get busy!
