America's scam

By MATT TAIBBI  |  September 9, 2009

This time around, Talib was busted for allegedly hitting a cabbie (in the neck and ear) who picked him up, along with a now-recovered Cox and Bucs linebacker Angelo Crowell, outside a St. Pete nightclub. There has been no word yet on the motive for the attack, but the two teammates were the only witnesses, so what they end up telling the DA's office will have a major impact on how short a plank NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ends up forcing Talib to walk.

The Bucs have had a really rough time of it lately. Safety Tanard Jackson just drew a four-game suspension for violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. Crowell is out for the year with a torn bicep. And new coach Raheem Morris just fired offensive coordinator (and former BC skipper) Jeff Jagodzinski, who was struggling with preseason play calling. Bad karma down in Tampa — give Talib 59 points pending more info.
