J BIDDY reports finishing up his second record, We Could All Make History, with JON WYMAN over at the HALO. Right now, he’s eyeing a December 9 release, with a party December 12 at the Empire. The man plans ahead. He says the band’s moving in a new and improved direction (i.e., just about all original music), and thus deserves a new name: J Biddy and the Founding Fathers is the current frontrunner.
HISS & CHAMBERS will be releasing a new remixes album, with local DJs/producers reprising their Making Eyes EP from last year. MOSHE, JASON KEITH, MIKE CLOUDS, BRANDON MILES, and H&C guitarist/Brick.City.Media-type J.HJORT all take turns reworking “Glory #1” and “Decay,” reportedly ranging from grime-hop to rave-dance to house/electronica. Check it out October 27 on MILLED PAVEMENT/BRICK.CITY.MEDIA.
Old HARPSWELL SOUND rhythm section JON TAKAMI (bass) and MIKE DANK (drums) have re-teamed to form MISS AMANDA JONES, along with CHARLIE BAILEY (GODBOIS) on organ and synthesizer. The new trio are an all-instrumental outfit and already have an EP in the can, which they’ll release November 20 at SPACE Gallery. Further, they’ve already got a full-length planned for a spring release on Germany’s SKYCAP RECORDS.
NOMAR SLEVIK checked in this week to drop a dime on a couple of new projects he’s churned out, both on EMBEN DIGITAL, that Milled Pavement division dedicated to all-digital releases. First, DONE has released the How to Own a Shadow EP, featuring Nomar, ID OBELUS, S.L.A.P., and MARCELO MARTIN all contributing a variety of beats and vocals. Second up is DJ BIZKID MEETS NOMAR SLEVIK: THE MIXTAPE, which is pretty much what it sounds like, a mixtape of various digital whatnot with Nomar as MC.
Anybody catch RAY LAMONTAGNE on Late Night with Conan? He raved up “You Are the Best Thing,” but he looked like he wanted to be just about anywhere else in the world when Conan came up to talk with him. A lot of artists play at not liking the spotlight — Ray just totally hates it.
Pretty cool: MIKE DOUGHTY at the Empire, December 6. The “Sibilance” staffers are already making plans.
