Apparently, there are still a few bugs in the system. This past week, GateHouse filed suit against the New York Times Co., corporate parent of the Globe and boston.com, claiming that the "Your Town" approach is illegal. Still, unless the GateHouse suit creates a devastating precedent for would-be aggregators, expect newspapers around the country to follow the Globe's approach. "Local-news aggregation is one place where I'd say, 'We can't be out-competed,' " said NYU's Rosen. "Breaking news in a totally old-fashioned way, and great aggregation in a new-fashioned Web way — that's where the sweet combination is." Assuming you don't get sued, of course.
