Letters to the Portland editor: March 20,2009

Thanks for digging!

THANKS FOR DIGGING!
Just read the article ("
The Outsiders," by Christopher Gray, February 27) and wanted to say thanks. This is the first local write-up I have received (in any band that I have been in) where the writer actually did some digging. Being modest artists, we've never felt comfortable trying to promote our accomplishments to anyone. It was nice to read that you actually got in touch with Pitchfork in order to provide our sheltered little city with some light on what goes on outside of here. Anyway, great article and keep up the good work.

  •   CONTINUING HOMOPHOBIA  |  November 24, 2009
Deirdre Fulton's and Shay Stewart-Bouley's comments and Seth Berner's letter on the Marriage Equality Act repeal are insightful. I would add another perspective:
  •   OBJECTING TO MARRIAGE CONTROL  |  November 18, 2009
“The Emperor is wearing no clothes” on both sides of the marriage war.
  •   DEATH BY TRADITION  |  November 11, 2009
When the newly formed United States enacted its first Constitution, voting was essentially limited to white land-owning men.
  •   HEARTFELT THANKS  |  November 04, 2009
I just finished reading the piece Ken Greenleaf wrote about my dear friend of blessed memory, Bob Solotaire.
  •   STATE SHOULD PROTECT INMATES’ RIGHTS  |  October 14, 2009
As Lance Tapley points out, denying prisoners access to human-rights protections is a mistake (see "Less Than Equal," October 2).
