"They're going 70 miles an hour in these go-karts," Hall says. "And competitive — they're learning about marketing themselves and branding their cars and how to work with sponsors. It's a world I had no idea existed. It's an absolutely fascinating film."
Another documentary Hall thinks highly of is about Internet pioneer Josh Harris, who went on to use technology artistically.
"I'm not sure it's going to happen with We Live In Public (June 4 at 9:45 pm and on June 7 at 11:45 am at the Opera House 2), but it won the jury prize at Sundance for documentary," Hall says. "It's also a really engaging story, about an Internet pioneer who predicted social networking 10 or 15 years ago, before there was Facebook or MySpace or Twitter or anything like that. That film, depending on how they get it out there, could be a real sensation in the Internet culture.
"Those are the ones that I think you're going to hear about a lot after the festival," Hall says.
