Baxter, of FatBaxter’s East End Market

Baxter, a golden retriever, is actually not fat. On the contrary, he’s a lean, decidedly un-mean dog who stands out among the scores of animals who greet customers at Portland’s shop doors. Like his owner, local electrician MJ Reed, who opened the new neighborhood store and eatery last year, Baxter is mellow and friendly — and like the market he represents, he fits right in on Munjoy Hill.
