More info on Patrick's tax problem

Here's what the general public is about to learn about Deval Patrick's tax issues:

A decade ago, Patrick and his wife were paying an unexpected federal tax liability in installments. They missed one* payment, which triggered an IRS lien.

Here's where things get fuzzy. According to the statement, the Patricks took "immediate steps" to pay off the balance. However, it's not clear whether this refers to paying off the entire balance or the balance on the missed payment. The figure mentioned in the statement is $8778. But it remains to be seen what, exactly, this number refers to.

*CORRECTION: Not that Howie Carr's the most credible source, but I just heard him read the statement on air, and the phrase used--if memory serves--was "one or two" payments.
