In a statement released today, Chris Schiavone says he's decided not to challenge Eugene O'Flaherty for the Democratic nomination in the Second Suffolk House district. The letter has yet to be posted on Schiavone's campaign web site, but here's the heart of his explanation: "...[I]n politics as in life, timing is everything. Because of major changes in the organizations of several of my clients in recent months, I am required to be more involved in the day-to-day activities of my consulting business than I had anticipated back in the Fall. It has become clear that the amount of time required for effective fund-raising and voter outreach would be incompatible with my current responsibilities as a small business owner. Hence, I have decided not to proceed with the race."
Too bad, because it would have been a doozy.
