New In The Phoenix: 9/11, and Mota


In this week's Phoenix, out tomorrow, I write about politics encroaching on Massachusetts's 9/11 commemoration -- and suggest that it's the inevitable result of Jim Ogonowski's candidacy for Congress. Read it online now:

In tragedy's shadow: Politics encroached on 9/11 in Massachusetts this year, even if nobody wants to admit it.

Also, I look at the state representative race in East Boston, and find that even the the candidacy of Gloribell Mota doesn't seem to be drawing the neighborhood's Hispanic residents into the political process:

Voto para mi? Why can't a Latina candidate mobilize Eastie's Hispanics?
