Pithy debate wrapup

Ross wins. She's the new Eugene Debs.

Healey should have followed Alison King's lead and panned Mitt Romney's anti-MA stumping. Bad move, Kerry! Other than that, she was good on substance (if you like her shtick, which I don't) but bad on aesthetics.

Patrick's reputation as a vague talker got worse tonight. His roughest debate, I'd say. Deval, you've got figure out how to pull that Boston Common stuff on TV.

Mihos is going to crack 10 percent in the final.

Gergen's a milquetoast.

We need a Patrick-Healey debate.

If you say Mihos is going to crack 10%, why would you want to silence him? Seems pretty hypocritical to me.

If someone has 10% of the vote, he or she deserves to be heard. They're a legitimate candidate and could pull out an upset - if they're given that platform to compete. There are so many problems with democracy in this country; limiting access to legitimate candidates at the microphone isn't going to solve any of them.

I thought Grace Ross won too. Patrick's vagueness is really unnerving.

Ryan: Because Mihos isn't going to win, no matter what happens between now and Election Day. I'm not saying the remaining four-candidate debate(s?) should be cancelled or that Mihos should drop out--just that Mass. voters deserve to see the two viable candidates engaging each other at some length. No one can say Mihos hasn't had a chance to make his views known.

I only got to hear the first 35 minutes or so, but Patrick sounded pretty good to me, and Healey couldn't handle the two-front war. Did things change dramatically in the last 25?

Patrick really was great tonight. Most people think Patrick scored a homerun by telling Healy to come off her "high horse." That is all that people are talking about tonight. He really zinged her, and really hanged the crime issue well. People don't care about specifics, as much as they care about charm. After all, this nation elected Bush not once, but twice! Patrick scored big tonight. Governor Patrick, that is.

Who should drop out -- the empty suit of a liuetenant governor or the man who built up a successful chain of convenience stores in this state? Hmmmm. The man spending his own hard earned money or the women burning through her husband's. The man from Brockton or the woman from some place in northern Florida? If you really think its too crowded, then sorry Kerry. Maybe you and Grace can go share a bottle of wine somewhere while Christy and Deval duke it out during the next debate.

Who was too chicken to run against the empty suit in the Primary? The man who built up a successful chain of convenience stores.

And we should repsect him for the general, why?

Christy didn't run in the primary because the Mass GOP is dominated by Belmont-Beverly elites, and sadly, the only thing this this weak and fragile collection of inbreds control is the party itself. They would have gathered all thirteen or fourteen of the party activists together in some 'enterprise zone' in Hamilton and conspired with their millions to stop Christy in his tracks.
