Springfield on Trial

20th Century Fox is holding a competition among 16 American cities named Springfield, with the winner to host the premiere screening of "The Simpsons Movie" this summer.

I'm guessing it doesn't help a city's chances to be going through a US District Court voting-rights trial, where witnesses "continue to paint a dismal picture of racial equality in Springfield today."

You think the Simpsons' Springfield is a bastion of racial harmony? I think we're fraught with many interesting contradictions here in Springfield that might match up nicely with the fictitious one. Someone said our state senator is a lot like Mayor Quimby... producer/writer Mike Scully was apparently from West Springfield and brings a nice urban western Mass flavor to the scripts. The main challenge is, will anyone from our fair city put together a video presentation and be considered in the running? WWHD? (What Would Homer Do)

Corruption in Springfield? Say it isn't so!
