Talking Politics - Sympathy for Gabrieli?

Sympathy for Gabrieli?

In this week's Phoenix, I assess rumors that the Mass Dems might shed a candidate or two at their convention in Worcester, and consider the keeping-Gabrieli-off-the-ballot-would-be-undemocratic argument. (I don't buy it.)

Also, please feel free to offer additional suggestions for this Democratic state convention drinking game.

gabrieli is kind of a tragic figure. he's done some pretty positive things with his venture capital business and on the boards he's served on, but he just doesn't get the electoral thing.
he says he's very familiar with the process, yet he didn't really engage in it. what would he do as a governor when it comes to the legislative process, wait 'till the last minute then bring on a bunch of consultants?
it's sad, but he's kind of like fredo in the godfather...or better still piggy in lord of the flies. hopefully worcester will just put him out of his missery. maybe then he'll go hang out with bono or some reasonable facsimily.
