At-Large Cash

The 2007 at-large race should in theory be less expensive that in 2005; without a mayoral election, turnout should be low, and with no open seat, there are fewer challengers.

Michael Flaherty is rolling in money as usual, with $426,585 on hand at the end of April, according to campaign-finance reports. That's about where he was this time two years ago.

Why are you so interested in the at-large city council race 6 months out, but you haven't bothered to write anything about the District 2 race which is just 10 days away.

I feel your failure to cover such an important special election is bad for voter turnout, and really does the voters of Boston's Second City Council District and great injustice.

I agree with Eliot. The upcoming battle in city council district two is THE race to watch in town for the next 11 days, and will set the stage for the cycle in the fall (as special elections often do).

I've been following fairly closely, and it looks like the May 15 match-up will be every bit as close as the primary, which the prevailing canidate took by 37 votes. It's going to be interesting.
