A whole new race

Judging from this new 7NEWS/Suffolk University Poll, it may be time to stop calling Tom Reilly the Democratic frontruner. Here's the big number: among Democratic voters, Reilly leads Deval Patrick 39 percent to 30 percent.

"What was nearly a 40-point lead last February is only a 9-point lead today," David Paleologos, Director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, says in the accompanying press release. "What’s worse is that among core registered Democrats, the Democratic Primary is now a statistical dead heat."

Ouch. And remember--this poll was taken before Patrick crushed Reilly in the Democratic caucuses.

There's bad news for Kerry Healey, too: the LG and presumptive Republican nominee loses hypothetical matchups to both Patrick (39-32 percent) and Reilly (47-32 percent).

but don't worry moderates, Jon Keller to the rescue! Jon is out searching for new candidates to get in the race and anesthesize the Democrats once again. Too late, the genie is out of the bottle, Jon ...

But for the fearful moderates, there is some relief, take one Tim Murray button (or ten) and hope for a Patrick - Murray ticket.

I just went to the link. Keller is stretching a bit, probably for lack of a better story. But some reporters need to go fishing, especially when the strongest candidate is collapsing and the other candidate is a minority who probably won't win statewide, even against Mitt's blonde, despite the goo-goo being progressives all excited about diversity.

Galvin and Gabrieli are both politically astute enough to have decided months ago whether or not to enter the fray. Going after the uncommitted at this point is a wasted effort in my mind. Sure, you might be able to get 15 percent. But will you be able to win? Maybe - maybe not. [John Bonifaz is running against Galvin in the primary but will probably get creamed, despite his high credentials.]

Also, I love the way they trot out Joe Kennedy. Every damn election for anything, the TV stations have to go visit Joe and have him stammer and stutter through another denial of interest. Can't they just leave the poor guy alone?

Haha...amen on Joe Kennedy. I'm not sure if it's actually true, but someone reported on a listserv that the three Delegates elected from Paxton on Saturday are for Joe.
