Talking Politics - Shonda's secret

Shonda's secret

It was bad enough that Shonda Schilling--wife of Curt, who stars for the Red Sox, and gave George W. Bush a very public endorsement in the 2004 presidential race--was presented as an "average voter" in last night's Herald/Fox 25 debate. But get this:

Shonda isn't registered to vote in Massachusetts.

Yup. As Jim Braude and Margery Eagan noted a few minutes ago on WTKK (96.9 on your FM dial), Mrs. Schilling isn't on the voting rolls in Medfield, the town she and Curt call home.

Whose bright idea was it to have Schilling and Jasper White toss softballs to Kerry Healey, exactly?

P.S.--And while we're at it, why did Maria Stephanos call the LG "Kerry" while addressing all the other candidates more formally?

Adam,

Beat up on Fox and Shonda all you want. But you leave Maria alone. Otherwise, it's pistols at 10 paces for you and me.

Interesting factoid re: Maria, John. After the debate, I drove home listening to Howie Carr and heard a caller say (this is an almost-exact quote): "You know who the real winner was? Maria Stephanos! She had all kinds of lotion on, and she was working it!" Howie responded by saying that, if you thought Stephanos looked good in her blue suit last night, you should have seen her in the jeans she wore before the broadcast.

Frankly, the whole exchange creeped me out. Especially the lotion part.

Fox 25 set that up every which way they could to lob Healy a pitch she could hit out of the park [insert your own joke about Mr. Shonda's pitching here], and Patrick had the better answer anyway. It's pretty well tested and documented that school merit pay works, and teacher merit pay doesn't. He did the research, and she didn't.

Credit where credit is due: The Schillings have gone over and above where community service and charitable giving is concerned, and at least their kids are in public schools. Too bad about their politics.

The funniest part of this is that if you go to wehirealiens.com or http://www.wehirealiens.com/ and look up the companies reported to have or hire illegal alliens and then go the state contributions website http://www.followthemoney.org/. Most of the companies that hire illegals and donate , donate to the republicans.

Separated at birth in the Bay State: Maria Stephanos and Journey frontman Steve Perry.
