Talking Politics - Camenker Defenders Demand Apology

Camenker Defenders Demand Apology

Americans for Truth, an organization created last fall "devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda," is demanding an apology from Mitt Romney for his campaign's character assault on "American hero" Brian Camenker.

Others on the right, such as the Michigan Cooler blog, are also upset about Romney's attack on Camenker -- and some are using it as an opportunity to launch ugly attacks at Mitt. Townhall blogger Matt Lewis quotes an unnamed source "close to one of Romney's potential rivals" calling the attack on Camenker "the dumbest stunt by a tier-one presidential candidate since George Romney claimed he had been brainwashed by the generals and diplomats." Yowzah!

By offending the homophobic fringe, Romney potentially allows room for another social conservative to gain traction; but at the same time, he potentially makes himself more palatable to more mainstream Republicans who don't want their candidate associating with the raving right. So, is it a net plus or minus for the Mittster?

It isn't a plus or minus; it's merely an honest reaction by romney.

This will be a different, less Clintionian-poll-focused campaign.

Please persuade your favorite Councilor to have Council
Rule 34 updated regarding communications of the City
Council. It's too difficult for people to learn about what
the Council is doing. Full content of Council Committee
hearing notices should be posted on the web at
http://cityofboston.gov/citycouncil
http://cityofboston.gov/cityclerk

The Council Minutes are too brief for ordinary folks to
understand. The Minutes should be more explicit about what
papers are approved instead of just mentioning papers were
approved. Docket numbers should be cross indexed.

The Council stenographic machine should be used with the
software that make it possible to read Councilors' debate
and remarks on the web. This would be good for citizens
with hearing loss.

Persuade, heck! The Americans with Disabilites Act REQUIRES public documents like council minutes to be made available to the hearing impared upon request! My town has a stenographer at evey town meeting, and the seats to read the screen rather than listen are always full up.

Take your hat from your hand, sir, and demand your FEDERAL rights!
