The sentence above most definitely sums up Thomas M. Menino's entire tenure as mayor of the city of Boston. Can anyone here think of a single instance where this mayor took the full blame for something (any problem at all - big or small), offered a personal apology and then changed that situation for the better? Not gonna' happen folks...

You name the situation and this mayor can rattle off the latest, most convenient whipping boy he angrily deems responsible. This guy has turned the phrase from the movie Casablanca: "round up the usual suspects" into a political art form. He should really consider putting up a placard in his office which reads "The Buck's Passed Here!"

I always laugh out loud while watching Menino's self-adulation and self-flattery whenever he's interviewed at length by someone like Emily Rooney on Greater Boston; all the while espousing his supposed blamelessness for the latest debacle the city endures and then expressing his distaste at the fact that the Boston media does not bend over and kiss his butt with every move he makes.
