MORE ABOUT THE TROLLEYS
When violinist Arthur Kim assembled The Trolleys in November 2005 for a one-night-only gig as a cover band, he got much more than he bargained for. With undeniable chemistry and a kinetic live show, The Trolleys have now been cranking out original and upbeat folk-rock throughout New England for almost three years. As they built their following in the Boston-Providence area, The Trolleys coalesced around the surprisingly harmonious musical personalities of each member: a drummer versed in hip-hop and Indian percussion, a bassist drilled with punk and alt-rock, a Coltrane-obsessed saxophonist, a classically trained violinist who worships high-energy bluegrass and brit-pop, and a guitarist with the spirit and poise of a 60s songwriter. What emerges from this lineup is some truly alternative rock built on intelligent lyricism and the melodic firepower of twin soloists on violin and sax. Since the release of the self-recorded "We Were All There and Young" EP in September 2007, The Trolleys have been hitting the road weekly, winning over fans and fellow musicians alike with their explosive-yet-good-natured songs. With the help of cars that still run, amps that still work, and friends that still sing with abandon, The Trolleys are proving that live music still lives.
