We're not the only one who noticed that more and more trucks are dashing blindly onto Soldiers Field Road/Storrow drive. That's blindly, as in failed to notice the giant sign that warns "NO TRUCKS OR BUSES."

The ever-vigilant Channel 5 news team caught on to the trend and jumped on the bandwagon with a March 31 report about some dumb trucker who blamed the fact that he'd had to stop just short of the 11-foot-clearance railroad bridge by BU on his GPS.

Last week, Slate's video editor Andy Bowers posted a video of his self-nominated "Stupidest Bike Lane in America," a lane in Western Los Angeles that runs a mere 275 feet before disappearing suddenly and completely amidst busy LA traffic - sort of a "Fuck off" to bikers from LA road officials. The Truck Stops Here

Say you're driving a giant 16-wheel trailer truck and you see a huge lighted sign reading NO TRUCKS. I'd expect you put to two and two together, but apparently more than a few mother-truckers are blind, illiterate, inattentive, heedless, or just plain stupid. I say this with some authority because I've seen with my own eyes this very day, three — count ’em — three large, boxy transport vehicles pulled over on Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive between the River Street Bridge and BU.

Gears of War 2 trailer already online

So there was a lot of excitement over what Microsoft had planned for the Game Developers Conference, which is going on right now in San Francisco. Turns out that the big announcement was Gears of War 2, which, while awesome, is hardly an earth-shattering surprise; the original was, after all, a huge hit, and for a while was the best reason to own a 360.

YouTube videos to air with ads in 2008

I guess we all should have seen this coming: YouTube is sticking ads on to its videos next year.

On the surface, it seems like this might bring the site's popularity down a shade, but then again, Google has a history of creativity when it comes to this stuff. Who knows. Maybe this stab at legitimacy will incite more companies to open their video vaults.

Tickets for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s dual Boston shows in November went on sale this morning at 10 A.M., and at about 10:01 A.M., they were sold out.

Normally, I wouldn’t be shocked and appalled, but when I’m one of the huddled, sleep-deprived masses who pulls himself out of bed 10 minutes early to pay my economic tribute to The Boss, you think the gods would smile on me a bit.

Last week, nine extras were injured on the set of the new Bryan Singer-directed movie, Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise as the Nazi officer who attempted to assassinate Hitler. The extras received only slight injuries--minor bruises and scrapes--when a side panel broke off the truck, slinging them out. They have hired a lawyer and are threatening to sue United Artists for exhibiting "inhuman indifference" to their health unless "rapidly compensated."
