At times, the pacing of both script and production are a little plodding (some lines and cues were still a little slack by the end of opening weekend), while Reb Nathan's and Shoshe's final revolutions feel a little abruptly drawn. But again, this is more fairy tale than realist drama. The show's broad strokes are enacted with energy, sympathy, and glee, with a lovingly close look at the minutiae of the rituals themselves. On those merits, The Golem will be satisfying to an audience of Jews and their friends eager for a warm, comedic fable, a feel-good foray into the essence of the Jewish faith.
