DF I will say that sculptors should never just look at sculptors. Contemporary art, regardless of the medium you are trained in, is a transdisciplinary business. Creative ideas go far beyond the boundaries of the materials used to express them.
WHAT SORT OF INTEREST OR ENGAGEMENT HAS THE SCHOOL HAD WITH THE NON-MECA PUBLIC?
DF This is an art school created by students, but it is not solely for students. Outside perspectives and expertise are essential to the learning process. We certainly invite anyone who would like to be part of the dialogue to join us on Thursdays. My great hope is that the project extends far beyond its life here in the ICA and continues through MECA's halls and Portland's coffee shops.
