THE CONDO'S NICE: The inhabitants, less so
Those of us accustomed to Boston-scale apartments will at once appreciate what
The Break-Up
has to offer: the condo. It’s really nice. The same can not be said for its inhabitants, a couple whose relationship is in its death throes as they duke it out over who gets to stay. Not that it’s ever clear what Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston were doing together in the first place. He’s an ignorant oaf; her attempts to get him back by making him jealous are so childish, they could be seventh-graders playing house. After a few funny scenes early on, things settle into a mean vibe. The real laughs come from the supporting characters, none of whom gets enough screen time from director Peyton Reed. Vincent D’Onofrio does weird and wonderful things as Vaughn’s uptight brother and Jason Bateman steals his few scenes by simply underplaying. They even outshine that gorgeous condo, no easy task.

Review: Couples Retreat
This movie has the power to make any date feel as endless and soul-sucking as the lifetime’s worth of defective, hateful marriages that doom the film’s protagonists.
Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights: Hollywood to the Heartland
The film of Vince Vaughn’s September 2005 jaunt through the West, South, and Midwest has a dubious goal: to be a stand-up movie with heart.
Fred Claus
As for infusing the ol’ ho-ho-ho, the most Christmasy moments for this reviewer arose whenever a nearby critic groaned, “Oh Christ!”
Bachelor party
It's easy to see how Wedding Crashers , the latest offering from the New Comedy Mafia, became the sixth-highest grossing film of 2005 (out-grossing The 40-Year Old Virgin by a cool hundred million dollars).
Four Christmases
Rather than the typical snowstorm that strands characters in a Holiday-themed comedy, it's heavy cloud cover that keeps San Francisco couple Brad and Kate from catching their flight to Fiji.
Smokin' Aces
Perhaps Joe Carnahan pitched his follow-up to 2002’s Narc as It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World by way of Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, and bad wigs. Watch the trailer for Smokin' Aces (QuickTime)
The Ex
The premise here is flawed.

The Ultimate Gift
Stingy are the rich, as we know from Ebenezer Scrooge and even Bill Gates before he became a crusading philanthropist.
Stunted Development
Watching the third and final season of Arrested Development , out now on DVD, it becomes clear why the show didn’t find a larger audience.

Although her film has as much visual flair as an after-school special, director Patricia Rozema gives an appealing attention to period detail, and Breslin is sweet in her first starring role.
REPRISE
| May 21, 2008
Trier captures the moment when the recklessness of youth gives way to adult responsibilities, and the way childhood friendships can fall apart when different paths are taken.
