Enchanted
is a little better than generic holiday fare. Directed with scant flair by Kevin Lima, it rides on the charm of its actors, particularly Amy Adams as the hapless, homicidally upbeat princess and James Marsden as her would-be prince charming. Marsden, whose chiseled jaw and supermodel cheekbones make him an eerily appropriate choice to play a cartoon prince come to life, has the most fun, portraying his character as a vapid adventurer who expects the world to love him as much as he loves himself. Alvin and the Chipmunks
Depending on when you were born and how much affection you have for a trio of singing rodents, Alvin and the Chipmunks may be a tough sell.

Aardman, regular Brits give 'Comforts' to U.S
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - One of the silliest, most inventive and most artfully produced programs to come along in years arrives in the U.S. next month on BBC America from Aardman Animations, the British outfit whose feature "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" is playing in domestic multiplexes.

I like to take my time surveying the voting booths, slowly walking past each one for about 20 minutes. Then I pick one, say, “Yes. This is the one. This will do."
Home on the range
This is one of those revisionist Westerns. Her subjects reflect what her father, Pulitzer-winning journalist John McPhee, has called her “constant search for the dividing lines between altered and unaltered worlds.”
Ice Age: The Meltdown
Carlos Saldanha’s brilliantly animated but scarcely believable sequel must take the cake for sheer elapsed time.

Waning moon in Aries. VOC 4:05 pm to 1:04 am Sunday. This month, with planets (sun, Venus, Mars) in Libra, the oppositional Aries lunar energy could bring out the sorry-for-self side of goats and crabs and — today at least — otherwise high-functioning Libra. Leo (especially August 11–14 lions) is willing to stretch the boundaries of “what’s acceptable.” In a totally charming way, don’t get me wrong!

Although her film has as much visual flair as an after-school special, director Patricia Rozema gives an appealing attention to period detail, and Breslin is sweet in her first starring role.

Trier captures the moment when the recklessness of youth gives way to adult responsibilities, and the way childhood friendships can fall apart when different paths are taken.
