Never count BUFFALO TOM out. The three members may have their own musical projects, and even real day jobs, but they’re gearing up to return with Three Easy Pieces (due July 10 on New West’s Ammal imprint) and a five-date tour that will bring them to the Paradise on July 14. . . . The 14th annual WBOS EarthFest concert takes place this Saturday on the Esplanade, with a Boston-oriented stage that will feature WILL DAILEY, CHAD PERRONE, MIEKA PAULEY, JAKE BRENNAN, and TIM BLANE. . . . Plans are under way for Matador to reissue the entire MISSION OF BURMA back catalogue this fall. . . . The world’s pre-eminent Elvis biographer, Peter Guralnick, says the PATRONS “have echoes of the Band, Gram Parsons–era Byrds, soul, country, and the whole range of American music.” They close out an unusual 2 pm bill at the Middle East upstairs this Sunday, a benefit for various high schools that features students from Umana/Barnes Middle School playing rock, hip-hop, and African-inspired music. . . . The Fenway Recordings Sessions resume at Great Scott this Sunday with the ROSEBUDS and LADY TRANSISTOR. Six more shows are booked through July 11. . . . Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. keeps straying from the Strokes and is still ripping through clubland. His new supporting act, the Boston band formerly known as FURVIS, has changed its name to the DEAD TREES. They’re at the Paradise with Hammond June 14. . . . And a producer who calls himself the Baby Shaker has hooked up with the CRUMB SULLIVANS — guitarist Bobby Diggs and mandolin/harmonica player Slippery Lips Manning, a duo he thought sounded like “something Alan Lomax would be interested in if he were still around and wandering the streets of Boston.” They recorded a four-song EP, The Quincy Recordings Vol. 1, in one take, and they’ll play at the Bulfinch Yacht Club this Saturday.
